American Song was written in March of 2003 during a time of uncertainty, reflection, and national unity.
More than twenty years later, as America approaches its 250th year, many of the same questions remain.
Who are we?
What binds us together?
How do people from different backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences become one nation?
America is not perfect.
America is not complete.
Every generation inherits the responsibility to strengthen it.
American Song is an invitation to participate in that continuing story.

The song began with three stories.
A Neighbor.
An Immigrant.
A Veteran.
Together they revealed something larger.
That America has always been a work in progress.
And that despite our differences, we are often searching for the same things.
